Garden magic: tips for design and care

Gardens are not only green oases, but also retreats full of joie de vivre and memories. Our plant expert from Can Juanito has a few tips on garden design.

The art of garden design begins with a simple question: what do we want from our green refuge? Do we want to be transported back in time by the scents and colors, or should the garden be more of a place for relaxation and enjoyment? Perhaps we strive for a minimalist design or simply for aesthetic beauty. So before we pick up a spade and shovel, we should be clear about what we want and plan our plot accordingly.

The next step is to consider our available resources. How much sun does our garden get? What is its orientation? Is the water supply sufficient? And what about the quality of the soil? These questions help us to choose the perfect plants for our needs. Experts are on hand with help and advice.

A variety of plants for every garden
For sun-drenched gardens, for example, the fresh bougainvillea with its lush flowers is ideal. Mediterranean scented plants such as rosemary, lavender and sage can withstand medium temperatures and high humidity and require little water. Mastic trees and myrtles are also easy to care for and reward patience with their slow growth.
Trees such as mulberry, hackberry and carob provide generous shade and require little care. Jasmine and Trachelospermum jasminoides enchant with their sweet fragrance and can cleverly conceal unsightly corners in the garden. Roses, the symbol of love, enrich the garden not only with their colorful splendor, but also with their variety of flower shapes and colors. Fruit trees such as plums, peaches and figs as well as berry bushes such as strawberries, blueberries and raspberries invite you to snack and require a little more attention in their care.

Planning is the be-all and end-all
Once we have made a sketch of our garden, the puzzle of plant distribution begins. Taking into account the soil conditions, water requirements and climate, we strategically place our selected plants in the garden. Then it's just a matter of putting our hands to work and bringing our green oasis to life.

The garden is more than just a piece of land with plants. It is a place of inspiration, relaxation and joie de vivre. With careful planning and a selection of suitable plants, we can experience and enjoy our own personal garden magic.

Can Juanito offers a large exhibition area with a variety of plants and trees.
