The only remedy is a reinforced path or the laying of paving stones. Incidentally, the same also applies to the paving of outdoor areas such as terraces.
On Mallorca, natural stone slabs are particularly suitable for this purpose and are available in various sizes, colors and shapes in the island's DIY stores. The following points should be noted when laying them
This includes, above all, the substructure. This should consist of a stable but above all water-permeable base layer, on which sand, gravel or grit is then poured. Alternatively, paving stones can also be laid in a mortar or concrete bed.
The substructure must be able to withstand high loads – in the case of a driveway, the weight of a car weighing several tons When laying the paving stones, it is important to ensure that the joints are well filled. This is crucial for the load-bearing capacity of the paving.
Laying is best started on a straight side. A width of around four millimetres is recommended for the initial joint. Skilled craftsmen lay the stone slabs without walking on the sandy substrate. A narrow gap of a few millimeters is usually left between the stones. Fitting joints can be easily created at the end using a stone saw or angle grinder.
Finally, the paving must be sealed.
