Life – whether human, animal or plant – begins with a seed. As indecent as that may sound. But the history of today's and perhaps the "oldest gardening company in Palma, the "Viveros Can Juanito" also began with a seed. Exactly 111 years ago, the seed shop of the same name opened its doors in Carrer del Sindicat, in the immediate vicinity of Plaza Major. Initially, customers were exclusively local farmers, who bought seeds for growing wheat, corn, vegetables and fruit there throughout the year.
In the early 1990s, the son of company founder Joan Aguiló and current owner Xisco Mulet bought a 20,000 square meter finca near the Palma suburb of Son Ferriol and moved the family business there. The seed trade was hardly lucrative anymore due to the incipient extinction of agricultural businesses on the island. Mulet therefore decided to shift his main business to growing and selling seedlings for local and foreign garden owners. With success.
Can Juanito is now one of the largest suppliers of fruit, vegetable and ornamental plants of all kinds in the Palma area. On more than 15,000 square meters of covered exhibition space, divided into various sections and areas, you will find everything that can grow and bloom in a garden. From ornamental plants, potted flowers and vines in every conceivable variety and color to palm trees, citrus and fruit trees of all sizes, as well as tropical and exotic plants.
In addition, manager Albert Tomas Torrens and his team offer an almost unbelievable range of garden accessories such as soil, fertilizers and plants. The range is rounded off by an equally extensive selection of outdoor and decorative items, ceramics, lamps and other utensils for balconies, gardens and terraces.
