The Majorcan air, saturated with sea salt and a hint of rosemary, which caresses the body and nose so velvety and silky soft on a summer evening, can unfortunately also cause major problems in construction technology. This was also the case in the Port d´Andratx area just 200 meters from the sea, where the Uwe Walter Group successfully completed a major façade renovation project for 36 residential units spread over six houses last winter.

Naturally, the „Uwe Walter Malergruppe, Farbe fürs Leben“ also created a Mediterranean color concept for the six buildings in Port d´Andratx to make the property special and to set it discreetly as a solitär in the surroundings. „The challenge was to achieve a high and lasting lightfastness, which is often achieved with ochre paints in aggressive sunlight, but is also possible with intense colors“, knowsß Uwe Walter. Long technical stability, beautiful shades, long-lasting UV-resistant colors (lightfastness) and long-lasting cleanliness are among the standard wishes of customers, which his company always guarantees, even under scorching sunlight.

Special requirements are also no problem: in Port d´Andratx, for example, the formulation of a 2-component material was specially optimized for stair railings and other metal parts. Corrosion protection that is otherwise only known from the nautical industry. For the façade coating, the choice fell on the high-quality SolSilikat from Keim as the most economical system under the conditions on site.

„In interiors, the issue of diffusion openness is a crucial point. Acrylics tend to form bubbles and are therefore less suitable,“ says Walter. Healthy lime paints against mold, which are otherwise not available on Mallorca, can be imported via the Uwe Walter Group. And the boss also sends the right upholsterers with specialist knowledge of mineral glass fleece.

In Mallorca, highly binder-coated paint materials are generally used – in order to function under the conditions there. The focus is always on selecting and using materials that are adapted to the climate and the construction method so that the building physics are not adversely affected.
